Normal pickup is on Wednesday from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM. All acceptable solid waste shall be placed within 5 feet of the street edge or curb by 6:30 AM on the street adjoining the premises and in no more than four (4) watertight 30-gallon containers with handles or four watertight plastic bags. Private road residences must bring their waste to the road adjacent to their property. The Town now allows one (1) large, bulk item to be put out per week. This would include a refrigerator, stove, washer, etc. If you are unsure, please call. The following is a list of holidays affecting your pick-up date: Memorial Day - May 28th (Thursday, May 31st); Fourth of July (Thursday, July 5th); Labor Day - September 3rd (Thursday, September 6th); and Christmas (Thursday, December 27th).

The Town of Wales does have a leash law. Complaints of dogs running at large must be either in writing or a photo of the dog on non-owner property for action to be taken. All dogs must be licensed yearly and have a current rabies vaccination.

Building permits are required for any new construction, additions, demolition, signs, fences, pools, fireplaces, etc. Please call the building inspector before you begin! In the event work requiring a building permit is commenced without obtaining a permit, the fee MAY BE DOUBLED. Anyone desiring to divide an existing lot or acreage should contact the office BEFORE MARKETING THE LOT to ensure zoning requirements are being met.

The Town of Wales Historical Society was estabished in 1994. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at the South Wales Memorial Building and Museum at 7:30 PM.
