On Veterans Day 2006, when asked if there was anything we could do for a young Wales man about to deploy to Iraq, he said "pray for us, and a few of these home made cookies would be great too". We take these things to heart, and so began "Operation Prayers & Cookies"!!
On the 6th of each month cookies are sent, not only for this young man and his Company, but several others that have been added to our list. We are told that they all look forward to their packages. If you would like to take part in this effort, please call and bring your homemade cookies, any variety, to: Dee Ziegel, 4498 Woodchuck Road, Wales Center 652-6776 by the 5th of each month and the cookies will be packed and sent.
This is only a small token to remind them of "home", but one we feel will make them know we remember them and care. If you would like to participate, and do not bake, we also send sport magazines, prepackaged snacks, sun screen and other items. We would be most appreciative of any donations. If you have a group at work that would care to sponsor a month, please let us know. Do you know of any Wales resident in Iraq or Afghanistan? We would like to add them to our list.
